(Online) Sparking Joy Day
One day to nurture mindfulness, laughter, and principles in positive psychology
There is human desire to find happiness and joy. Most of us have asked ourselves in some shape or form the question of, “am I really happy?”. While we may experience some happiness, life’s circumstances sometimes blankets this capacity to connect to our inner joy. We then watch as our spark slips away.
Join us in this one-day Online event to nurture and spark the joy that is inherit within us all.
The day will incorporate principles of Positive Psychology, with practical exercises to nurture authentic joy, resilience, and appreciation of life.
Sparking Joy will also include Eastern teachings and experiential practices that nurture well-being. These will include:
- Laughter yoga
- Mindfulness meditation
- Movements
- Discussions
This one day retreat will have some periods of silence but this is not a silent retreat.
There are no prerequisites for Sparking Joy Day, it is open to all levels (beginner and advanced practitioners are welcome). Please note that this only open for those 19 years of age or older.

About the Facilitator

Dr. Kasim Al-Mashat is a Registered Psychologist, and public speaker. He is a Certified Laughter Yoga and Hatha Yoga teacher. Kasim is also a Certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher through the University of Massachusetts Medical School's Centre for Mindfulness (CFM) and the Mindfulness Center at Brown University. Kasim has founded the Centre for Mindfulness Canada. He has completed a six month retreat in Southeast Asia in silence, presented a TEDx talk on mindfulness, and appeared in various TV shows, publications, podcasts, and radio interviews.
