MBSR stories


The MBSR stories describe some of the learnings and shifts that my clients have experienced from their participation in the MBSR program.  These are descriptive stories of real life experiences while removing names and identifying information to protect their privacy.  Pseudo names and titles are used. 

Hilary’s story (MBSR graduate and mental health worker): 
“I was able to maintain my life without collapsing for the last two months.”
-  I almost did not want to register for this program!   I had too many things happening in my life at that time.  It was actually the most stressful period in my life. Interestingly, what helped me through it was doing this MBSR! Thinking back, those exercises we learned were greatly useful and peaceful and compassionate.  Very grateful.  Thank you Kasim!! 

Miranda’s story (MBSR graduate and business woman):
“This course has given me my life back. Priceless.”  

- My challenges were clouding my mind, which made my busy life more stressful.  I started feeling like I was losing control, and dealt with it by avoiding things.  But then this MBSR program gave me a new perspective.  I had the answers to my life all along, but did not create enough time nor space to connect with my own wisdom.  It was there all along!

Jim’s story (MBSR graduate and retired):
“MBSR has given me a sense of peace, of being whole”.    
- It is one thing to understand intellectually that acceptance of my circumstances could have helped me deal with the problems I had; it is another thing to ‘know’ that strength comes with acceptance! This course has set me on a new path of ‘being’.  It was a wonderful introduction to how peaceful, joyous and loving my life can be. 

Jennifer’s story (MBSR graduate and retired nurse):
“Kasim created a safe, welcoming and warm environment in which to experience the effectiveness of MBSR.  I highly recommend this program.” 
- I tend to be quiet in groups, wondering if other people are judging me.  It was a breath of fresh air to be in a space where I did not feel judged.  That on its own began to teach me to be less self-critical and work more effectively with my inner judgmental and critical voice.
